Malian journalist Birama Toure has gone missing since January 29. His family made this known in an interview with the AFP.
The journalist who worked for “Le Sphinx” took some time off work to prepare for his wedding but has reportedly not been seen since then.
“This is a mysterious disappearance. All hypotheses are possible but we want to hear from Birama,” his eder brother told reporters.
The Malian Association of Press Publishers has raised concerns about the disappearance.
“I do not want to exclude any suggestions. We are a newspaper that attacks, but I want to clarify that at this stage there is no indication showing that his disappearance is linked to his job,” an editor of Le Spinx told reporters.
Malian authorities have been informed about the situation and investigations are currently ongoing.
The National Syndicate of Malian journalists has called on authorities to do all it takes to ensure Birama Toure is found.
